JEANS: NEW ARRIVALS

  Jeans is a style quotient for every women and at the same time, it is fashionable and comfortable.  Major fashion brands in India are

Out of above, Levi is always my first choice to choose.  

LEVI NEW ARRIVALS are slight curve, demi curve and bold curve.  Indigo Bay, a new arrival of slight curve which pair up with any kind of blouses, tops, tees and tanks.

   In demi curve, a style called Blue Ribbon,  it has got many rips otherwise called as strategic rips around hip and upper thigh area which is a classic boyfriend style yet it comes under skinny style.

In bold curve, Indigo smoulder which would be a common pick for every women  because it gives trendy, cool and slouchy look for women.  It can be paired up with light-hued blouses and tops.


The trend of boyfriend jeans is hitting slowly in India and it surely will catch up its position.

JEAN SIZE:

Buying a pair of perfectly-fitted jeans is absolutely priceless.  It boosts your confidence and  your image level among your friends and colleagues.  Some jeans come sized in inches (such as 32, 34, 36 and 38).  Knowing your waist size will allow you to buy a perfect jeans from any brand.  By taking a measuring tape, you can do it yourself.  Wrap the measuring tape around your waist where the crease line is, which is around your waist.  This is located by a bend at the waist to your side will make you to identify the crease line around your waist.

The second part is to measure your inseam length (in non-technical terms, double line stitch at your jeans which is started from the zip end to the ankle point.) . The other way is to find the inseam length is by; if you already own a perfect-fit jeans then lay them flat on a table and using the measurement tape, take the measurement from the crotch seam (which is from the zip end) to the ankle hem would help you to find a perfect-fit jean for you.

HEAVY ARMS OR FLABBY ARMS:

When women doesn't have ideal body weight, it is common to have excess fat on your arms.  The choice of dress like sleeveless, fitted sleeves, short sleeves and sleeve styles cannot be worn by them.  Fitness is one way to get rid of flabby arms.

The other way is to give a conscious effort to wear dresses with,

1.  Long tapered sleeves
2.  Extension sleeves
3.  Vertical detailing on center front (as shown in below picture)

This will help move attention from heavy arms.

They should avoid:  Fitted sleeves, short sleeves and raglan styles.

Should wear vertical detailing like this would suit female.

For women with narrow and sloping shoulders, they have to wear design details will help move attention from narrow and sloping shoulders like,
1.  Straight cut styles
2.  Double-breasted styles
3.  Structured tailored styles
4.  shoulder pads
5.  Wide necklines
6.  Horizontal detailing on neck
7.  Set-in sleeves

They should not wear a design which comprises of,
1.  No fitted styles
2.  No off shoulder styles
3.  No halters
4.  No extension sleeves

BODY AREAS:

A woman with a short and heavy neck should consider this while choosing ensembles:

1.  Open necklines
2.  Vertical necklines
3.  Narrow collars
4.  Long earrings
5.  Long necklaces
6.  No high or closed necklines
7.  No shoulder pads
8.  No scarves
9.  No bold or heavy earrings
10. No chokers.

Broad Shoulders:

If a woman has broad shoulders, she should be constructed keeping the following details in mind like,

1.  Loose cuts
2.  Deep armholes
3.  Extensive sleeves
4.  Vertical detailing as I previously stated
5.  Detailing at hip area
6.  She should go for dark colors on fabric selection especially on the shoulder area
7.  No closed necklines.  This will help move attention from broad shoulders
8.  No horizontal detailing
9.  No shoulder pads
10. No shiny and bright fabrics over the problem area.

INDIAN ENSEMBLES:

Today, I talk about Indian ensembles like salwar kameez, sari blouse and lehenga choli.  First I will start with the more common wear of India is Sal
war Kameez.  From teens to oldie, people used to wear because of its comfort, its simplicity and it can be accessorized easily and it suits for all body types.  On all occasions, and all seasons, people tend to wear salwar kameez.

Lets talk about the styles and detailing in salwar kameez:

For Straight body type:

The kameez styles suited to straight body type should have to be loose and not to highlight the broad shoulder part of the body.  The other details one has to give attention is,

1.  Deep neckline
2.  Deep armholes
3.  Salwar with fullness
4.  Knee length with side open


The straight body type women has to go for a fabric such as cotton and linen.

Pattern for a skirt

Hi,

Today, for a change, I will tell how to draw a pattern for a basic skirt.  It is very easy to draft a basic skirt and you can save a copy of draft for future use.  Once you draft a basic skirt, we can pattern many other forms of skirt:

Measurements required:  For example,

Waist - 70 cm
hips    - 94 cm
Waist to hip - 20.6 cm
Skirt length - 59 cm

Note:  Take a brown paper for drawing draft.  For rough use, we can use newspaper

DRAFT:

Draw a horizontal line which is the sum of half hip measurement plus 1.5 cm (Refer Pattern given below)
I take 94/2 = 47 cm + 1.5 and mark it as 1 and 2.
Starting from 1, draw the skirt length 59 cm.  mark it as 3.  Square across from 3 and mark it as 4.
Now take waist to hip measurement which is 20.6 cm.  Square across to 6.

Note:  After you have drawn the above stated things, you have to take the left side part as back and the right side part is your front.

Back:


Quarter the hip measurement plus 1.5 cm
94/4 = 27 cm + 1.5 = 28.5.  Take 28.5 cm from 1 and mark the other end as 9.  Square down to 8.  See the picture.
From 9, take 1.25 cm up the point 9.  Draw a separate dotted lines from 7 to 10 and 10 to 1.
Divide the line from 1 to 10 into three equal parts.  Mark points 11 and 12.
From point 11 square down to 14 cm as dotted line and mark it as 13
From point 12 square down to 12.5 cm as dotted line and mark it as 14.

From point 11 take 1 cm on either side and converge to point 13.  Follow the same step from point 12

Draw in the waist line with a slight curve.


Front:


Quarter the waist measurement plus 2.25 cm.  Follow as stated above in the back.
From 15 take 1.25 cm up and mark it as 16.  Draw dotted lines from 16 to 7 and 16 to 2
Take one third distance from 2 to 16 and mark the point as 17 with a dotted line.  Draw 10 cm down from 17 and mark it as 18.  Take 1 cm on either side of point 17.

Draw in  the waist line with a slight curve.

Hi,

It's been more days to write another post.  In my previous post I've explained about pear body type and now I'll tell about

Diamond Body type:

1.  They have medium girth neck
2.  Broad shoulders
3.  Medium bust
4.  heavy waist
5.  heavy thighs
 
One has to give attention to their hips.  This is accomplished by selecting a right attire that has a curve and fullness in the upper part of the body.  And you have amazing lower legs and slim beautiful arms to show them off.

Skirt

Hi,

Today I am going to tell about skirt and types of skirt.  In coming days, I will tell how to cut the pattern for skirt.  There are many styles in skirt.

Straight skirt
Pleated skirt
Gathered skirt
Flared skirt
Wrap around

 The skirts always should be of knee length width.  

Important measurements for skirt:
Waist measurement
Hip measurement
Waist to Knee measurement.  


Before going into skirt, there are many body types.

Pear body type
Diamond body type
Straight body type
Round body type
Hourglass body type
Inverted Triangle body type


One has to check their own body type by standing in front of a mirror. 

After identifying your body type, you can choose your type of dress which suits you best.

Pear body type:

Those who have a pear body type can identify themselves with the help of these tips:
1.  They have slender neck
2.  Narrow shoulders
3.  Small bust
4.  Shape waist
5.  heavy thighs

The important tip here is, the one with a pear body shape have to bring attention to the upper body parts and providing a slimming effect to the lower parts of the body.  This can be done by wearing a detail upper kurti like this.
